Recipe–Snickerdoodle Cookies

Smitten with My Kitchen Snickerdoodles

My boyfriend Andy’s favorite cookies are Snickerdoodles.  Because I’m a bad girlfriend, I’ve never made them for him until just last week.  I didn’t have a tried and true recipe that I liked, so I turned to someone I trust, fellow blogger Tanya Searle of Smitten with My Kitchen.  Andy loved them, and he says he’s an expert.  Here’s the recipe:

1 C. shortening

1 1/2 cups sugar

2 eggs
1 tsp baking soda

1/4 tsp salt

2 tsp cream of tartar

2 2/3 cups flour

Beat together shortening, sugar and eggs. Add flour, cream of tartar, baking soda and salt. Mix together. Pinch off a small amount and roll into a small ball (about 1”) Roll in cinnamon-sugar and place on a greased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 10-12 minutes. Cookies are done when they are lightly browned. Do not over bake or they will be crispy instead of soft. Yields 3 dozen

    It might be a cool idea for the blog in general if you put a poll in the right margin that would run for a few weeks that would ask for readers to decide the nature of a recipe that you post.

    So for example: you might ask which ingredient readers would like to see incorporated and then give the choices of peanut butter, nutella, maple syrup, brown sugar or honey.
